Spákonufell

The mountain Spákonufell is expressive and well visible from the town.
At the top is a rocky area called Spákonufellsborg or Borgarhaus. Up there is a mossy completely flat area and at the front is a chest with a guestbook in it.

Kristallinn is a bird watching house located on Spákonufellshöfði designed by architect Auður Hreiðarsdóttir.

You can rent kayaks by the hour and paddle along the coast and out to the bay, Húnaflói.

Swimming pool

The swimming pool in Skagaströnd is just a short distance from Spákonufellshöfði. The pool is outdoor, small and cozy.

Guests can enjoy a cup of coffee in the hot tub.

Spákonuhof

Is a exhibition about Þórdís the fortuneteller, the first named inhabitant of Skagaströnd who lived in the second half of the 10th century. You can find a lot of information about predictions and forecasting methods at the exhibition with live guidance.
Guests can have their fortunes made or get a palm reading.
The children look in Þórdís’s gold chest, where many things are hidden.

Árnes

Árnes is the oldest house in Skagaströnd and was built in 1899 by Fritz H. Berndsen, a merchant who worked in Skagaströnd and ran the local store.

Árnes is a living example of facilities and ways of life in the first half of the 20th century.
The house is a typical wooden house from that time and the only one of this type that could be preserved on site.

Háagerðisvöllur

Háagerðisvöllur right outside of Skagaströnd is an extremely beautiful 9-hole course.

Sandlækur

The beach is popular with the locals for swimming in the ocean and kayaking.

The beach has an amazing view out to the bay Húnaflói and north to cost called Strandir.

Kálfshamarsvík

Kálfhamarsvík is a small bay on the northern side of the peninsula. There are beautifully shaped sea ​​cliffs made of columnar basalt that were formed approximated two million years ago, a peculiar structure of nature.
